Channels

One AI is not enough.
Spin up a specialist.

Every channel in Boardbox has its own dedicated agent — its own system prompt, voice, and slice of memory. Switching to #health is switching specialists, not switching prompts.

Channels

One agent. One topic. One sharp head.

Forget the all‑knowing assistant. In Boardbox, every channel runs its own specialist — with its own system prompt, its own tools, and its own slice of memory. Switching topics doesn’t dilute the model. It changes the room.

The mechanic

A channel isn't a tab. It's a persona and a memory scope.

When you switch to #healthin Boardbox, two things change at the same time: the model’s system prompt and the slice of your memory it loads on this turn. That’s what makes the answer from your clinical channel sound clinical and the answer from your finance channel sound like a CFO — without you adjusting a single prompt. Tools live at the workspace level, available to every channel.

System prompt

A long-form persona definition — voice, constraints, things never to do, things to always check.

Default profile

Which workspace profile loads by default — Health, Finance, Personal — plus the index of what else exists if the conversation calls for it.

Workspace tools

MCP integrations are connected at the workspace level, so every channel in the workspace can reach the same tools.

ChatGPT

Global memory plus project recall can still blur a supplement plan into an RFC conversation.

Boardbox channel

Loads the channel's default profile, plus any others the conversation calls for. Nothing else.

Memory loading

Default by domain. Cross-loaded by relevance.

The default profile is the one most likely to be in scope —#health defaults to Health, #financedefaults to Finance. But your life isn’t siloed by topic. When the conversation bridges, the agent loads what it needs.

The result: your finance channel can talk you through a $20k procedure cost with your calprotectin result in context, without your health channel ever seeing the spreadsheet.

Isolation

Channels are workspace-scoped, not global.

A Personal workspace and a Professional workspace each have their own set of channels. Your #engineering at work never sees your #faithat home. Same architecture, two independent containers. No cross-talk, no “wait, why does the model know about that”.

Spinning one up

Three paths from idea to working channel.

Channels aren’t a config form you fill out. They’re a conversation you have with Boardbox — you describe what you want, the system proposes a persona, system prompt, and a default profile, you accept or edit before it goes live.

From a brief

"I want a clinical channel that's allowed to read my labs but not push back on supplements I've already chosen." Boardbox proposes the rest.

From a template

Curated starting points — Health, Finance, Engineering, Marketing — that you adapt to your context.

FAQ

Common questions

How is this different from ChatGPT Custom GPTs or Claude Projects?
Custom GPTs, ChatGPT Projects, and Claude Projects are useful ways to shape chats with instructions and files. Boardbox channels are persistent agents inside a workspace — each with its own system prompt, voice, tools, default memory scope, threads, artifacts, and auto-updating workspace state. A channel is where work lives and resolves, not just where a chat starts.
How many channels can I create?
There's no hard cap. Most users land between 5 and 15 per workspace — one per major domain (health, finance, business, etc.). The point is fewer, sharper channels, not infinite ones.
Can the same profile inform multiple channels?
Yes — profiles are workspace-scoped, not channel-owned. Each channel has a default profile it loads, and the agent can cross-reference other profiles when the conversation calls for it. Your finance channel can read your health profile when you're pricing a procedure; your faith channel can read your personal profile when stress shows up in your sleep.
What happens when a channel agent doesn't know which channel it's in?
It always knows. The frontloaded prompt includes the channel's persona, system prompt, and primary profile. Channel context is identity-level for the agent, not an inferred guess.
